I May Write A Book Someday

I’m thinking about possibly writing a book one day.

Now, this may or may never happen. But after selling real estate for the past 16 years, I feel that I have learned a few things that I can pass on to anyone else looking to start a career selling real estate. I’ve come up with close to 40 different chapters so far, just the topics. Half of them on mindset and the other half on real estate conversations.

I wrote the introduction a few weeks ago. Let me know what you think.

Introduction

If you are not angry by the time you finish reading this page, I want you to throw this book out, then call me at 914-775-7526, ask for your money back, I’ll gladly send you a refund.

You see, if you are not bothered and angry by what I am about to tell you then I have failed you.  Stop reading, get your money back and go do something else.

Our #1 enemy in apathy.  

This book is not here to entertain you, or for that little voice inside of your head to judge the ideas you read.  If this is not resonating with you, get your money back and throw this book away. Your time is too precious to spend reading this unless this is deeply disturbing to you.   

You see there is a tiny little voice inside of your head, his name is ego “watching and judging” everything that you experience.  Deciding if you agree or disagree with what you are reading.

Saying things like, “I agree” or “I don’t like this.”  And as long as that little voice inside your head is talking I cannot get through to you.  Nobody can get through to you.  

I would bet that this is not the first book you have ever read on improving your life, sales, marketing, or real estate. If I had to guess, I would bet that you are probably doing kind of ok, like most of us, you are kind of just getting by.

But whatever level of success you are currently in, you know there is so much more you could be doing.  You know you are leaving so much more money on the table.

This book is about tapping into that potential you know you have.  You know you can be doing so much better, but there is something stopping you.  This book is about how you are stopping yourself and what needs to change so you can take it to the next level.

But I need you to feel what I’m feeling.  I need you to be motivated to change and take massive action.

You have to want to change, so if you’re not interested in changing the way you think, behave, the money you make; the happiness and fulfillment you feel every day when you wake up.  Please do not waste your time, and move on.  Time is too precious to waste.

As long as that little voice inside of your head is speaking and telling you what to think, YOU ARE NOT LISTENING! 

That little voice is your #1 Enemy.  You may say you want to do better, you may say you want more money, but there is an even stronger part of you that wants you to stay exactly where you are.

That’s that little voice inside of your head, telling you what to think and how to feel.  That little voice is keeping you away from greatness.  That little voice is the voice of scarcity and of survival, its main focus is on keeping you alive, not on making you more successful.

You may say you want more, but your behavior is keeping you exactly where you are.  Sure, you might be “self employed” and have the freedom to take a three hour lunch, and work when you please, but if you are not having major success in selling real estate, then how much freedom do you really have?

Can you take a two week trip to Europe and pay for it in all cash?  Are you living in that 10,000 sq ft house you always wanted?  Why not? Because of that tiny little voice inside of your head that is always talking to you.  Feeding you the thoughts that got you to your current level of success.  Good or bad, that voice doesn’t want you going anywhere else.

So even if I gave you the perfect script, the perfect objection handlers, the perfect approach.  You wouldn’t know how to deliver the information in a compelling way to get you the listing.

If your eyes rolled to the back of your head, because you are disappointed this is just another lecture about changing your mindset, THAT IS THE PROBLEM.

If there is a disconnect between your goals, your actions and your results. Then THE PROBLEM IS IN YOUR HEAD.  There is a misalignment somewhere in your life.  

It’s very easy to see a misalignment in others, but it’s much harder to see it in ourselves.  

An example of a misalignment is someone that says they want to get in shape, but has a hard time working out.

You might say you want to be in a loving relationship but are too afraid to approach someone you find attractive.    

You might say you want to start your own business, but then you are too scared to quit your job.

Look back at the last 10 years of your life.  Was it all that you desired? Did you live your best life?  Did you travel? Did you live in your dream home?  Did you create incredible bonds with the people that you loved?  Did you even have the energy to go try?

Or did you just kind of do the same things every day.  Live in apathy.  Did you just kind of pay your bills?  Went out on the weekends, maybe went on a cruise once.  Said I’ll go see Europe next year.

My friend Kenny once told me “The future is now!”  He said it in my mid 20’s after graduating college all my friends started working jobs and the years started going by.  All the dreams and ambitions we had when we were younger slowly started fading away as we were hit with “reality.”

Today is going to be the youngest you’ll ever be.  In a blink of an eye, you see five, ten, twenty years go by.

I need to shake you up, get you out of apathy.  

The irony is that the people who need to “wake up” the most, are going to be the hardest ones to reach.

But I need you to shake your body, and tell yourself, man it’s time to change.  No more!  I’ve had it.  I’m looking for answers. To not care about how long it takes, what price you have to pay, it’s time to start the journey to make progress in my life.

Realize that you are in a race against time.  The years are passing by, your time alive is limited, we do not know when it will all end.  But we do know that at some point  it will end.

The first step is to admit to yourself that you have been stopping yourself this entire time.  You haven’t played like a champion.  You have been stopping yourself this whole time, and it’s time to change.

It’s not the economy, it’s not the market, it’s not your situation.  It’s you!  You are 100% responsible for everything that happens to you, the good, the bad and the ugly.

Bad things happen to everyone, we all live on the same planet.  So how come some people get more and more rich, more and more successful and others stay stuck?  Year after year, no change.  Or in most cases, just a tiny bit of changes.  Minor improvements.

There are misalignments everywhere you look.  

According to Tai Lopez, health, wealth, relationships, and purpose, are the four pillars of a fulfilling life.

And if you look to the masses for the answers you are going to be disappointed.  To find the answers you have to ignore 99% of people when they give you advice.  And only listen to the 1% you resonate with.  That will get you closer to your goals.  There is no guarantee that you will ever get there but it will get you closer and closer.  

Ultimately, progress is happiness.  Everyday you work towards what you really want in life brings you closer and closer to happiness.
